One of the things that I really miss about living on O’ahu is the preponderance of white buildings, and some of the clean, modernist structures that create strong abstract shadows in the afternoon sun.
My favorite was the IBM building on Ala Moana Blvd. that was designed by Vladimir Ossipoff and built in 1962. I used to pass by this gem every week, on my way to get groceries, and I was always struck by the strength of the design.
It was slated to be torn down (HUH?!), but seems to have been left standing for the time being.
